Hotel openings
The 279-room Rosewood Beijing is slated to open Summer 2013 as the first China property for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. The hotel will be located in the central business Chaoyang District, opposite the iconic CCTV Tower.
New 300-room Waldorf Astoria Chengdu to open in second quarter of 2016 in Chengdu, China. Planned openings include Waldorf Astoria Beijing in 2013, and Waldorf Astoria Baoting and Waldorf Astoria Sanya, both on Hainan Island in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
Designed by Melbourne-based Bar Studio, 279-room Rosewood Beijing will open Summer 2013 as the first China property for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. Bangkok-based P Landscape will oversee the property’s landscaping.
The new contracts add 6,572 new hotel rooms to the Greater China committed development pipeline since the beginning of 2012. The contracts include one Sofitel, nine Pullman, five Mei Jue (Grand Mercure), one Novotel, as well as 15 ibis projects.
The property is slated to be launched in 2015. It joins 129 open hotels, and the company’s development pipeline of 121 projects, totaling more than 75,000 rooms in 15 countries.
W Hotels Worldwide has announced it has signed an agreement with Al Sharq Investment LLC to debut a new W Hotel in Dubai on The Palm Jumeirah. W Dubai is set to debut in 2016.
The company signed 12 new deals in China in the first three months of 2012, with Greater China accounting for 44% of its global pipeline. Since Starwood's debut of The Great Wall Sheraton Hotel in Beijing in 1985, China has now become Starwood's second largest market in the world after the US.

India-based Mirah Hospitality has announced plans to invest Rs5000m ($94 million) to open nine new properties in the next two years in North Indian cities.
The company is to boost inventory from 535 rooms to more than 2,500 by year-end 2013. Currently, Best Western operates two hotels in the resort island of Bali, BEST WESTERN Resort Kuta and BEST WESTERN Kuta Beach; as well as two properties in Java's key metropolitan regions, BEST WESTERN PREMIER Solo and BEST WESTERN Mangga Dua Hotel & Residence, Jakarta.
Announcing the launch of Hotel de la Paix Cha Am Beach Hua Hin and Hotel de la Paix Luang Prabang. Both properties feature designs by Thailand architect Duangrit Bunnag.
