World Hotels tests new Google Maps feature

By HMA Staff 01 March 2011

World Hotels has announced it is the first hotel group to test the Google Maps feature, which enables hotels to display their real time rates and availability in search listings on Google Maps and on related Google Place pages.

World Hotels said it is testing the new functionality with its property Georgian Terrace in Atlanta.

The new service from Google allows users to enter their desired arrival and departure dates in Google Maps and find the best prices and check availability in real time. The Worldhotels Resmaster system enables independent hotels to display the pricing information of their own Web site next to the prices of advertisers such as online travel agencies and drive potential bookers directly to the hotel's own booking engine.

"We are proud to be the first hotel group to be able to offer this revolutionary new functionality to our hotels together with Trust International," says Robert Hornman, Managing Director of Worldhotels. "This valuable tool will drive qualified traffic directly to our affiliate hotels."

Google recently added the new feature. According to this blogpost from Google Maps Mania, the functionality is only visible to a limited number of users and a limited number of hotels that have paid to include their pricing information on Google Maps.
