Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has appointed Thierry Douin as vice president and general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, overseeing properties in the Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar and Thailand.

Previously, Douin was general manager of the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore and vice president for Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.

A French national, Douin joined Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in 2001 as general manager of Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong. In 2004, he was appointed general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, before becoming area manager overseeing the Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort, Singapore and Traders Hotel, Singapore. In 2009, he was promoted to vice president with regional responsibilities for Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Prior to joining Shangri-La, he was general manager of the Siam Inter-Continental Hotel in Bangkok.. He spent 19 years in service in total with the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts group.

Douin started his career with the Dubai InterContinental in the UAE.
