Macau casino owner and operator Sands China has reported that its CEO Steve Jacobs has left the company.

In a statement, the board of directors announced that Jacobs, who held the role of CEO and president and an executive director of the firm, had had his employment terminated with effect from July 23.

The board said Michael Leven had been appointed as acting CEO of the company while it searched for a permanent replacement.

Leven was previously special adviser to the board of directors and the president and chief operating officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp, of which Sands China is a subsidiary.

Jacobs (pictured) had held the post of CEO since August 2009.

Sands China owns The Venetian Macau, the Sands Macau, and the Plaza Macau. Las Vegas Sands Corp. owns The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino and The Palazzo Resort-Hotel-Casino, Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, US.

In other news, Sands China announced July 27 the appointment of new additions to its management team with Edward M. Tracy as president and chief operating officer and David R. Sisk as executive vice president and chief casino officer, effective from August 10.
