Sofitel Plaza Hanoi’s Ming Restaurant gets new chef

Sofitel Plaza Hanoi’s Ming Restaurant gets new chef

By Mick Tan 06 June 2012

Native Beijing chef Li Qun Xu has taken the helm of Cantonese kitchen at Sofitel Plaza Hanoi.

This development marks the finishing touch to a redevelopment that began more than a year ago at the Sofitel Plaza Hanoi’s flagship fine-dining venue. After a full makeover in 2011, the 158-seat Chinese restaurant reopened with a modern Oriental design, brighter palette and refreshed concept. A tea lounge appeared in one corner, three VIP rooms looked out over Thanh Nien boulevard, and two interactive show kitchens emerged within the seating space.

Chef Li has 20 years of specialization in Chinese cuisine. His appointment in Vietnam is the 15th stop in his career. Following his studies in culinary arts and hotel management in Beijing, he worked at restaurants in five-star hotels in Asia, Europe, and the UK. Prior stints include head Chinese chef duties at the Four Seasons in Cyprus, Raffles Hotel in Beijing, and the Sheraton in Dubai.

At the Sofitel Plaza Hanoi, Li will take charge of Ming’s operations.
