Singapore Hotels outsource cleaning

By Lachlan Colquhoun 25 July 2012

As many as 15 Singapore hotels have awarded contracts to a new cleaning outsourced company, according to newspaper the Straits Times.

The newspaper says the hotels are in the luxury establishments of Suntec and the international chains along Orchard Road.

The cleaners wear the uniform of the hotel, because the hotels believe this is better for the hotel's image, and that guests do not like non-employees entering their rooms.

The outsourced company was started by Singapore resident John Sartain, former general manager at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel and Mandarin Orchard Hotel.

Another outsourcer, MetroCleaners, has contracts to clean serviced apartments in the city state.

Interesting choice although I don't understand how this would reduce costs. As a big travel fan I don't really care who's cleaning my room as long as this is done right.
