Ritz-Carlton to open new Hong Kong hotel in 2011
09 August 2010
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has pushed back the opening of its new Hong Kong hotel until the start of next year.
The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong will now open in the first quarter of 2011, the company has announced.
In an interview with Hotel Management Asia earlier this year, Simon Manning, regional vice president, sales and marketing, Asia, Ritz-Carlton, said the hotel would open in the last quarter of 2010.
Occupying the top 16 floors of the International Commerce Centre in Kowloon, the 312-room hotel will be the world’s highest hotel, according to the company.
“Hong Kong is one of the world’s great cities and we are delighted to be returning with such an iconic and dynamic hotel,” said Ritz-Carlton president and COO Simon Cooper.
The opening of the new hotel marks a new era for Ritz-Carlton in Hong Kong after the closure of the original Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong in January 2008.
