TMS Asia Pacific Salary Survey Results 2011
2011 has been a year of mixed fortunes for the travel and tourism industry in Asia. Driven by resurgent regional economies, led by China, tourist arrivals to the region continue to advance, consolidating last year’s strong recovery. The region has seen a 7% growth in arrivals, led by South and Southeast Asia. Hong Kong has experienced record monthly arrivals, boosted by traffic from mainland China, while Singapore and India continue to see double-digit growth.
There have been challenges however; the 11 March disasters in Japan have taken their toll on both inbound and outbound traffic from this key market, and lingering doubts over the US economic situation and eurozone debt crisis have stemmed growth.
