Regent Hotels Resorts announces new leadership
21 July 2010Regent Hotels Resorts has announced details of its new leadership team, following its recent acquisition by Formosa International Hotels Corporation.
Founder Robert Burns is to lead the vision of the brand as honorary chairman. He will be supported by Ralf Ohletz as president, and Steven Pan as chairman.
American Burns founded Regent International Hotels in Hong Kong in the 1970s together with Adrian Zecha and Georg Rafael. The group now has 17 hotels worldwide in locations including Beijing, Singapore, and Taipei.
German national Ohletz collaborated with Zecha on the creation of hotels including Sukhothai Bangkok. Other hotels he has worked at include The Oriental Singapore, The Mandarin Hong Kong, and The Pierre in New York.
Plans for the Regent, which was previously owned by Carlson Hospitality Group and Rezidor Hotel Group, include expanding the brand in Asia via partnerships with developers and owners.
