Phillip Couvaras joins Shangri-La in Beijing

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has appointed Phillip Couvaras general manager of Traders Upper East Hotel, Beijing.
An Australian national, Couvaras has 32 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, including 12 years’ senior management experience serving in hotels in South Africa, Fiji, Australia, Zambia and Switzerland.
Previously, he was general manager at the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa, during which time he was named General Manager of the Year by the owner of the hotel, Sun International.
Couvaras was also chairman of the Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa.
