New sustainability program for Accor
01 August 2012
Accor has launched a sustainabillity program called PLANET21 to cover the French hotel group's environmental, social and community investment actions.
PLANET 21 comprises 21 commitments by Accor and the same number of quantified goals for the year 2015, around issues such as training employees for disease prevention, the promotion of balanced dishes in hotels, and the labelling of eco-products.
The program also commits Accor to goals of decreasing energy use by 10 percent at its owned and leased properties around the world, along with a 15 percent reduction in water consumption.
"At a time when the Group is embarking on a phase of brisk expansion, with the aim of becoming the global leader in the hotel industry, we are reaffirming out commitment to responsible growth capable of generating shared value for all," said Dennis Hennequin, chairman and chief executive officer of Accor.
Accor guests will also notice the program, with the company planning a "diverse and rich array of messages" on sustainability issues.
