Minor Hotel Group launches new brand
27 September 2011
Hotel owner, operator and investor Minor Hotel Group is to launch a new upscale brand called Avani.
The brand – which is described as filling the gap for a niche brand that delivers innovative guest experiences – will launch with a first property in Sri Lanka. The Avani Bentota Resort & Spa will be fully completed by late 2011. It will be followed by a second Sri Lankan resort opening in 2012.
Additional properties are in the pipeline for Asia, Australia, the Indian Ocean, Middle East and Africa, the group said without providing specifics.
“The launch of Avani serves as a two edged sword in Minor’s expansion roll out. The refreshing new brand carves a dynamically different pathway for our group by offering a unique hotel concept, as well as adding to our successful global growth,” said Dillip Rajakarier, chief operating officer of Minor International.
Minor Hotel Group is a hotel owner, operator and investor with a portfolio of 37 hotels and 36 serviced suites under the Anantara, Marriott, Four Seasons, St. Regis, Elewana, Oaks and Minor International brands in Thailand, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Tanzania, Kenya, the UAE, Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. Avani was created to complement MHG’s 5 star Anantara brand which offers enriching destination experiences in 15 locations with a pipeline of 50 properties by 2015.
