Marriott to open 10 new hotels under JW Marriott in 2010

Marriott International has revealed plans to open 10 properties under its luxury hotel brand JW Marriott in 2010.

The new hotels will open in five countries including China, India, and the US. Locations will include Hangzhou, China; Bogota, Colombia; Bengeluru, Chandigarh, and Chennai in India; Ankara, Turkey; and San Antonio, Los Angeles, Miami, and Chicago in the US.
 
“The major growth expands the JW Marriott experience to some of the world’s premier cities and destinations,” said Don Semmler, executive vice president, full service brand management and operations, Marriott International. “Each of our hotels and resorts in the JW Marriott portfolio delivers a warmly authentic, relaxed and elegant guest environment that is unique to the segment that we call quiet luxury.”
 
An additional 20 JW Marriott hotels are also under construction or in development in 13 countries, in locations including The Maldives, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Puerto Rico and Indianapolis.
 
Marriott currently has 45 JW Marriott hotels in 19 countries; by 2013 the portfolio will encompass 73 properties in 28 countries.
