By Lachlan Colquhoun 13 June 2012

Mandarin Oriental Group has announced it will manage a luxury hotel currently under development in Chengdu, the capital of China’s Sichuan province.

Mandarin Oriental Chengdu is slated to open in 2015 and will form part of a new mixed-use development on a prime riverfront site in the Jin-jiang district, opposite the ancient Wang-jian Park, which dates from the Ming dynasty.

The hotel will be positioned as the most sophisticated luxury hotel in Western China. Located on the top 33 floors of an iconic tower build, it will feature 321 rooms including 41 suites.
