Leela Hotels parts froms Kempinski

Indian luxury chain Leela Hotels has separated from luxury hotel and marketing group Kempinski Hotels after nearly 25 years, according to a report in Indian newspaper Business Standard.

The Mumbai-based Leela has reportedly dropped the Kempinski brand name from all its properties, except for the Gurgaon hotel and the Leela Residences Gurgaon.

“We have had a very fruitful relationship with Kempinski over two decades. For future growth opportunities, the company was required to set up its own marketing and distribution system. This is an important component for future expansion. This has allowed us to set up our very own network,” The Leela Hotels, Palaces and Resorts president Rajiv Kaul said, according to the Business Standard report.
