04 August 2010

Langham Hotels International is continuing its fast-paced expansion in China with the announcement of a new property for Shanghai.
The luxury hotel group will open The Langham, Xintiandi, Shanghai, its second property in the city, in October.
Located in the Xintiandi district, the 24-storey hotel will occupy a new landmark building and will boast interiors by Peter Remedios. The hotel will have 357 rooms including 23 suites.
The property will feature an innovative restaurant concept called Cachet, whereby one space will be used to offer five different dining experiences. These include a lounge for afternoon tea, a Café for international culinary dining, a Juice Bar for a refreshing pick-me-up, a Martini Bar for an evening tonic and Alfresco, an outdoor terrace.
“We’re delighted to be expanding The Langham brand in China with an iconic new property marking the start of a journey that will see the group become recognised as a leader in luxury hospitality in China,” said Langham Hotels International CEO Brett Butcher.
The announcement comes on the heels of Langham’s signing for a new property under its Langham Place brand in Guangzhou, with Hong Kong property developer Nan Fung Group.
The group will open its first property under its Langham Place brand in China later this month with the Beijing Capital Airport.
The Langham, Xintiandi, Shanghai, will be the 21st property in the Langham Hotels International global portfolio.
Elsewhere in the Asia Pacific region, Langham Hotels International has new properties in the pipeline for Guangzhou, Phuket, and Bangkok.
