Kempinski moves ahead on new brand Nuo
26 July 2010Luxury hotel group Kempinski is forging ahead with the development of its new China-specific brand Nuo, Kempinksi China president Rene Schmitt told Hotel Management Asia in an interview earlier this year.
Schmitt said the group was currently focusing on three locations for the brand. “We are building one in Beijing and Shanghai and very soon in Tianjin,” he said.
The Shanghai hotel is expected to open early 2012, and the Beijing one in 2013, Schmitt added.
Kempinski announced last year the launch of its new luxury brand Nuo, which will be developed only in China. Schmitt described the brand as five-star and featuring contemporary Chinese art.
“China is a tremendous market and needs a brand like this. Every developer that we have shown [the model] to is very excited about this,” he said.
Schmitt estimated the luxury hotel group would develop between 30-50 hotels in China under the Nuo brand in the next 10-15 years.
