IHG to open residential property in Osaka
29 July 2010
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is to open its first branded residences in Japan in 2013.
The firm announced today plans to open a luxury hotel and high-end residences within the Osaka Station North Yard Development Project in Osaka city under the InterContinental brand.
Both the hotel and residences are scheduled to open in 2013.
This will be the first InterContinental hotel in Osaka and IHG’s 7th hotel in Japan; it already has hotels in Tokyo and Okinawa.
The residential unit will be IHG’s second in the Asia Pacific region following its opening of its first residential property in the region in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam last year.
“InterContinental is a brand that has gone through some of history’s most defining moments; its rich geographical and cultural heritage will always be a part of its legacy. This is yet another great moment in the InterContinental brand’s history, and I’m confident that by establishing our presence in one of Japan’s key cities, we’ll propel the brand from strength to strength in this region,” said IHG Asia Australasia managing director Jan Smits.
