20 January 2010The Hong Kong Polytechnic University has unveiled the name of its under-development teaching hotel as Hotel ICON.
The hotel, which is set to open later this year, will serve as a training facility for students at the university’s School of Hotel and Tourism Management.
Located in the Tsim Sha Tsui area of Hong Kong, the 28-storey hotel has 262 guest rooms.
Students at the university will serve internships at the hotel, the university said, with up to 100 expected to be at the hotel ‘once operations get underway’ and another 50 working with the opening team.
“We are confident that the international status of the school as a world class institution will be further strengthened through the success of Hotel ICON,” said Kaye Chon, director and chair professor at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management.
The School of Hotel and Tourism Management offers various courses including a BSc in Hotel Management, a MSc in Hotel and Tourism Management, and a Higher Diploma in Hotel Management.
