Hilton Huanying offers designer slippers

By Lachlan Colquhoun 15 August 2012

Hilton Hotels & Resorts has launched limited-edition "Water Dragon" slippers designed for Hilton's Chinese guest welcome program by fashion designer Vivienne Tam.

The signature slippers will be available beginning this month exclusively for guests of Hilton Huanying, the Hilton Worldwide program offering tailored welcome experiences for Chinese travelers at 70 participating hotels in 23 countries. The product has been launched to co-incide with the one year anniversary of Huanying.

The slippers feature a mirrored design of two intricate inward-facing blue dragons swimming in a turquoise "sea" - a common symbol of optimism, harmony and fulfillment in Chinese culture. Featuring shades of blue inspired by the Hilton Hotels & Resorts signature color, the slippers celebrate the Year of the Dragon and are available in a men's and a women's size and made of soft terry cloth, plush cushioning at the toe and a textured sole.

"To give travelers a sense of comfort, I was inspired by the Chinese Water Dragon when creating these slippers exclusively for Hilton Hotels & Resorts," said internationally acclaimed fashion designer Vivienne Tam. "The Water Dragon bestows optimism, harmony and fulfillment, which are feelings we often seek when traveling. Although we may cross many oceans, home is the harmony within. I'm pleased to provide Chinese travelers staying with Hilton a warm welcome on their journeys."

Hilton Huanying takes its name from the Chinese word for "welcome."

The program has grown to 70 participating properties in 23 countries across Hilton Worldwide's portfolio of brands, encompassing destinations popular among Chinese visitors --- from San Francisco, New York City and Hawaii to London, Tokyo and Sydney.

Globally, bookings in the first seven months of the year by guests originating in China increased 129 percent at Hilton Huanying participating hotels over the same period last year. Hilton HHonors, the guest loyalty program for Hilton Worldwide's ten distinct hotel brands, has seen an increase of enrollment within China by 81 percent this year.
