Garden Cliff Resort in Pattaya to rebrand under Radisson

By HMA Staff 21 September 2010

Hospitality and travel company Carlson has signed a management agreement to rebrand the Garden Cliff Resort & Spa in Pattaya, Thailand as a Radisson hotel.

The property is owned and was previously managed by tour operator Garden Cliff Park Company. The company will continue to operate the property until first quarter 2011 when it converts into the Radisson Resort & Spa Pattaya Bay.

Carlson said it will undergo an extensive renovation and repositioning of the property prior to its reopening.

The renovation will take part in two phases: part one includes an overhaul of key public areas comprising the lobby, the restaurants, the conference and banquet facilities, the fitness centre and the guest rooms; part two includes the refurbishment of general area corridors, elevator lobbies and final touches to the guestrooms and back of the house areas.

The resort will be Carlson’s third Radisson property in Thailand; it has in addition hotels in Bangkok and Phuket.

“We are delighted to be introducing the Radisson brand to a third Thai city, Pattaya,” said Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific managing director Jean-Marc Busato. “The addition of this property is in line with our Ambition 2015 growth strategy to expand our portfolio by at least 50% by 2015 to more than 1,500 hotels in key international gateway cities and major resort locations.”

Vichit Prakobgosol, president, Garden Cliff Park Company Limited, said he was optimistic the rebranding of the property would be a success.

“Pattaya ranks as one of the world’s most popular beach resorts attracting nearly five million tourists annually. We are confident that with the upgrade and repositioning of this property to a Carlson managed resort, combined with the strength of the Radisson brand, this property will reach new heights and expand business with an increasing number of international visitors from Asia, Russia and Scandinavia,” he said.
