Four Seasons Bangkok predicts double-digit revenue decline for 2010

By HMA Staff 31 May 2010

The Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok has forecast a 25% drop in revenue in 2010 as a result of its closure due to the recent political violence in the city, according to a local media report.

The hotel was closed for seven weeks from April 5, and reopened last week with only 10 of its 354 rooms occupied, the Bangkok Post reported.

General manager of the Four Seasons Bangkok Rainer Stampfer said the property lost more than 100 million baht in revenue as a result of the closure, which would create an anticipated 25% drop in revenue for the year in comparison to the previous year.

The Thai Hotels Association is understood to have asked the government for a five billion baht budget to help hotels affected by the political violence.
