Expedia rolls out new hotel booking form

By HMA Staff 29 December 2011

Online booking site Expedia has changed its hotel booking platform to provide more authenticity in its traveller-generated hotel reviews.

The Expedia Verified Reviews program allows travellers to filter hotel searches in new ways and also confirms that each review has been written by an actual Expedia customer who booked and stayed at that hotel.

“We’re starting to collect interest information,” said John Kim, Expedia’s senior vice president of global products. “We get a lot of requests for reviews that would be useful for people with dogs or for hotels that would be good for foodies. The new form we send out after a hotel stay allows customers to write reviews for a specific audience.”

Hanson added that verifying a review helps to prevent unscrupulous competitors from posting fake reviews that are potentially damaging to a hotel’s reputation.
