Edmond Ip developing hotel brand

(Update) Industry veteran Edmond Ip has revealed that he is working on the development of a new luxury hospitality brand, according to a report by 4Hoteliers.com
Ip, CEO of hotels division, Kosmopolito Hotels International, and former employee of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), told travel journalist Yeoh Siew Hoon that the brand will be a luxurious, modern brand similar to Chinese luxury clothing brand Shanghai Tang.
"What David Tang has done with Shanghai Tang – that will be a good illustration of the brand that I’d like to develop," he said.
In May, Ip was awarded the 2010 Trailblazer Award by Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP).
Ip has more than 35 years’ experience in hotel management, development and finance. Before joining Kosmopolito Hotels International, he was chief advisor, chief operating officer – greater China and managing director for IHG.
