Chatwal targets 100 hotels in India in next 10 years
31 January 2012New York-based Chatwal Hotels and Resorts has announced it is looking to open 52 hotels in India in the next five years via a partnership with Wyndham Hotels. The company said it plans to make a US$200 million investment in India during the period.
Chatwal Hotels & Resorts will manage the properties, which will be under Chatwal’s premium Dream and mid-segment boutique Night brands, whilst Wyndham will provide sales and marketing support.
“In the next 10 years, we want to have 100 hotels in India,” Sant Singh Chatwal, chairman and CEO, Hampshire Hotels and Resorts said, according to a report by Indian newspaper Business Standard.
The company is aiming to set up 12 Dream and 40 Night properties in India by 2017 as part of a global objective of opening up to 500 properties with Wyndham.
Locations under consideration for expansion in India are Delhi, Jaipur, Goa, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Raipur. Chatwal already operates a Dream hotel in Kochi.
Chatwal Hotels and Resorts is understood to have signed deals for 18 properties in India to date.
