Amara expands to Thailand
23 July 2010Singapore-based hotel hotel investment and management company Amara Hotels & Resorts has announced it plans to open a 272-room hotel in Bangkok in 2012.
The hotel, which is described as a business/leisure hotel, will be the company’s first in Thailand.
The hospitality division of the Amara Group already manages the Amara Hotel in Singapore, and the Amara Sanctuary Resort in Sentosa.
The firm announced that through its hospitality arm it had signed an agreement with the Thailand Crown Property Bureau for the development of the Bangkok property.
Regarding future development plans, Amara Holdings Ltd CEO Albert Teo commented: “We are constantly on the lookout for opportunities to open other new hotels in the Asia Pacific region. Other than Bangkok, we are also exploring other parts of Thailand; and in China, we are currently reviewing a few locations.”
Amara Holdings Ltd, also known as Amara Group, has businesses in three areas: hotel investment and management; property investment and development; and specialty restaurants and food services.
It entered the hospitality sector in 1986 with the opening of its Singapore hotel.
